Opportunities in Singapore
Singapore, a global maritime hub, is spearheading smart and sustainable shipping initiatives to decarbonize the industry and enhance efficiency. The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) actively supports innovations in green technologies, including alternative fuels like LNG, biofuels, and hydrogen, alongside electrification and energy-efficient ship designs.
Digitalization is another cornerstone, with advancements in autonomous shipping, real-time data analytics, and AI-driven solutions optimizing operations. The nation's robust infrastructure, financial incentives, and collaboration with international partners make it an ideal platform for scaling sustainability innovations. Singapore’s commitment to green maritime growth aligns with global efforts to achieve net-zero shipping by 2050.
Singapore’s strategic location at the crossroads of major shipping routes, combined with its robust infrastructure, innovative maritime technologies, and government support, makes it an attractive market for Dutch startups and SMES.
In August 2022, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore and the Port of Rotterdam Authority signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish the world’s longest Green and Digital Corridor to enable low and zero carbon shipping.
